Kayaking- Here is another great idea from one of our rentors: "I thought I would send you some photos of our stay last week. We had a terrific time and the weather was great. The house is wonderful and is lacking for nothing. You can see my wife, 3 boys, and my oldest son's girlfriend were very impressed. We doubt it will be our last visit. The last photo shows us kayaking with Captain Markus. He was wonderful. He met us down Blimp road for a guided 4 hours kayaking session. He was not only knowledgeable, personable, and fun, but a wealth of information about the ecology and history of the area. His email is keyaks@aol.com & phone 305 872-0032

Bahia Honda State Park

In my mind's eye we're the most ideal situation in all the Keys. Cudjoe Key is primarily a residential key, not the hustle/bustle of the Upper Keys. We used to own in the Upper Keys but ventured into our area in search of the last vestage of what the Keys are all about, layed back little string of islands with the most amazing water in the world.

We are 20 minutes from Key West and all the obvious advantages to that and we are 20 minutes from Bahia Honda State Park: http://www.floridastateparks.org/bahiahonda/default.cfm

Bahia Honda State Park was voted one of the top ten beaches in the U.S. - never a crowded moment, lots of places to wander and watch the birds, swim, walk through butterfly gardens, kayak, fish etc.

Our little area has somewonderful restaurants just minutes away (see my Rentor's Information Sheet for all of our favorites); we have a little market on Summerland Key (3 minutes) that has everything from Coleman Colorado beef to white truffle oil to Boar's Head deli meats etc and a Winn Dixie on Big Pine 10 minutes, or Publix etc in Key West 20 minutes. We also have hundreds of acres of Bird Sanctuary on Cudjoe Key were we drive in the evening and watch the herons and ibis flying purposefully while we watch the sunset.
